David’s Report. After some ngazi feeding, Figan hit Camp where he stayed an hour with Humphrey. He left and Goblin and Humphrey followed him up to KK2 and KK3. There he passed up muhasha and traveled to KK4 with Goblin where they briefly fed on mnazi and then muguiza. He soon found himself traveling to KK6, across the valley, to feed on his muguiza tree. He returned to the Dell for muguiza and then through Camp. No one was there, though from the Dell he heard Satan and Faben pant-hoot and drum without coming into Camp.

He went downstairs by himself for mumanda and then traveled to a korongo north between Kakombe and Kasakela and ate mkurungu, a bud-like leaf. He then went up to Plumb Tree Thicket as if he were returning to Camp. He did not drum and instead headed east up the hill. He rested and then ate kitota in Kasakela. He ran into Fifi and they ate mnazi and then mkurungu (msiloti). He nested nearby Fifi.

Shortly after Larry snapped the Camp photo (above), Jane took this photo that appears in her book Through a Window: My Thirty Years with the Chimpanzees of Gombe (1990, Houghton Mifflin, Boston).

ASSR Details. No ASSR.

Nesting Details. He nested with Fifi greater than 50 m after solitary msiloti feeding in Kasakela for 40 minutes. He slept in an old nest that may have been his from DAY 28 (July 27).
