Figan un-nested at 0645 and fed with an adult male baboon on ngazi for a while before traveling back to KK2 with Faben and Gigi. Figan and Faben did four sets of pant-hoot-drum displays during travel. The group split up at Lower KK2. Figan fed on ngazi for an hour before traveling to Camp where he met Mike, Hugo, and Pallas. Winkle, Miff, and Moeza arrived later and Figan groomed with Mike and Miff briefly. Figan then traveled down to the Mess where he fed on mumanda, majani, muguiza, ngazi, and mtobogoro before returning towards Camp.

As Figan traveled to the Mess he passed the path in Plum Tree Thicket where Bolivar the Bushpig [RIP] had been dragged to his grave the previous morning. Figan carefully sniffed the nearby branches, then broke off a small twig, carried it in his mouth 100 m, stopped and sniffed the stick again before discarding it. During travel back towards Camp, Figan met Goblin and Mike on the path and he groomed with Mike for 1/2 hour.

Figan fed alone on ngazi for the next 2 1/2 hours in Palm Grove. Gilka fed in the distance for an hour. Figan then traveled up KK2 where he fed on mnazi before crossing Meat Ridge and traveling down into KK3 for kitota. After 1/2 hr of kitota feeding, Figan traveled to the base of KK3 where he found Faben feeding in an mtobogoro tree. Figan fed for an hour before nesting with Faben.

ASR Details. No major ASR.

Nesting Details. Figan and Faben exchanged grunts as they fed on mtobogoro in lower Kasakela at 1720. Figan rapid-grunted 5 minutes later. At 1727 Figan built his nest 5 m off the ground and 5 m from the mtobogoro tree where Faben was still feeding. Figan rapid-grunted twice as he rested in his nest. I left the chimps at this time and Adriano reports that Faben nested near Figan at 1745. Figan was found feeding in a nearby ngazi tree when we arrived at 0640 the next morning.
