Day 34: Another Quiet Day
| Date: | August 2, 1974 |
| Start: | 06:45 (nest) |
| Finish: | 18:05 (nest) |
| Duration: | 11 hr. 20 min. |
| Observers: | David Riss and Cretus Chiwaga |
David’s Report. Figan was un-nested in Kasakela alone. He hurried back in the direction of Camp, displaying four times near Plum Tree Thicket. He wandered among the houses, trying to find a fruiting ngazi, but had no success. He entered Camp and was given bananas. Ten minutes later he heard pant-hoots to the east and left Camp and found Sherry in a favorite ngazi tree. Sherry left shortly and Winkle joined and left Figan. Figan ate until 0850 when Humphrey arrived submissively. They traveled north a ways and met Hugo and Sherry and there was much grooming from 0855 to 1115.

Figan led the group down the stream, passing Camp. He soon found himself alone and headed to the muguiza tree and then off to Kasakela, where he found Jomeo and Goblin in the mumanda tree. Jomeo soon left and Fifi and Patti joined him. They moved off north to the other mumanda tree and Sherry came and went. Soon Faben and Gigi arrived in lots of excitement. Faben had left (or vice versa) Figan at 0700 the previous morning. The group later returned into Kasakela proper and met Humphrey, Athena, Atlas, Melissa, and Mike. Humphrey soon left while Figan and Mike groomed. Kitota was the last meal and they nested at 1800. Pallas showed up at the end.

ASSR Details. Figan alone displayed four times en route to Camp. Later in the day, when Figan and Faben met up with Mike and Humphrey, Figan full-open screams to Faben and Faben reassures Figan. Then they charged into the group.
Nesting Details. At 1730 Mike, Figan, Faben, Melissa, Gigi, Goblin, Fifi, and Patti are feeding on kitota in Kasakela, very near the stream. Athena, Atlas, and Pallas are nearby. At 1746 Figan finishes and sits and then rests. He fast-grunts at 1747. At 1752 he grunts with no response. At 1755 we hear Mike nesting 30 m away and Figan fast-grunts. Figan moves to under Mike’s tree and Faben nests across the stream 10 m from Figan. Figan climbs up into an old nest that he made, within 3 m of Mike. At 1801 Pallas nests 40 m away. Fifi, Melissa, Patti, and Goblin are nearly nesting when we leave. Gigi and Athena have moved to a mumanda tree where they feed at 1815.
