Day 29: Figan Dreams About Gigi?

David’s Report. Hugo, Humphrey, and Patti were up early after Figan displays at 0625. They fed on mumanda and were joined by Nope and Jomeo. Humphrey, Hugo, and Figan at 0730 moved to the beach and fed on cardboard, burlap bag, and ngazi among A-troop baboons.
Patti. 
They traveled along the beach to the downstairs muguiza tree, and slowly up to Camp. The excitement of the day occurred when Figan came into Camp from the west and sat down on the west side of the banana trench. Goblin, Satan, Gilka, Fifi, and Winkle were in Camp. One minute later, Goblin strolled across the banana box and went insane in submission as he spotted Figan. Satan bobbed with full-open-grin and screamed and avoided a Figan charge and the females scattered everywhere.
Figan and Faben left the others (Sherry, Goblin, Jomeo, and Sparrow) and went to Kasakela to feed on mnazi leaves, kitota, and mumanda. They were very slow and tired it seemed and very bored. By 1500 they were stuffed, and there was nothing to do. So they nested at 1630 on the Kasakela stream. They were seen later that afternoon on a B-record, and many chimps were in the vicinity later, prompting them to come out of their nests. Figan was seen from 1830 to 1900 and nested nearby. Figan and Faben were found by 0715 the next morning.
ASSR Details. Early morning displays by Figan, waking up Humphrey, Patti, and Hugo. Displays upon arrival at Camp, and Satan pant-grunts and bobs to him.
Gigi and Patti were flat, so no sex. Figan was seen on Day 29 to masturbate a little while sleeping: he had an erection and besides penile abduction, he handled it several times. Dreaming about Gigi?
Nesting Details. Figan and Faben were bored with themselves all afternoon and nested within 5 m of each other at 1630. They were later seen at 1830 when many chimps came into the valley. At 1603 they grunted often to each other.
Four-Day Summary. In general, a very slow set of follows despite large numbers of other chimps observed. Gigi and Patti are both down, and the chimps are in the midst of changing their foods, as mshai dies. Little action outside of the encounter with the adult male colobus. No Evered sightings and minor, very typical ASR. Ranging in Kasakela and Kakombe only.
