Curt’s Report. Figan left his nest at 0706 and traveled to the kilikia tree east of Camp. Patti and Fifi arrived and there was a big fight (contact II) between them. Fifi seemed to be the initiator and the aggressor however Patti fought back and held her own. Patti waah’ed several times and screamed continuously. A few minutes later Figan displayed at them; they both screamed and avoided. Figan went to a nearby ngazi tree where he was joined by Gilka (ASR). Figan passed Goblin (ASR) during travel to Camp where he was fed bananas. Figan found Hugo in the mkuyu tree northwest of Camp and they groomed for an hour.
Figan traveled up Peak Ridge for some msongati and was joined by Hugo and Patti (B=1/4). As Figan fed at 1247 there were distant screams which started at the Dell and slowly moved to only 40 m from Figan at Peak Ridge. Gilka was screaming and Gigi was nearby as Figan displayed downhill at them. I would assume that there had been an attack on Gilka by Gigi – only an assumption however. Figan resumed feeding on msongati and was joined by Sherry and Patti. Figan accidentally fell 2 m out of his tree. He put hair-out and slowly climbed back into the tree. Sherry bobbed heavily to Figan as they moved alone into the Lower Kasakela kitota patches.
At 1500 there were loud eagle-wraah’s from Patti back up on top of Peak Ridge. Figan and Sherry were instantly alarmed and they quickly traveled up towards Patti. They stopped 30 m from Patti and sat cautiously listening for 1/2 hour. During this period a buffalo was heard galloping on top of the ridge. Figan and Sherry had been both curious and cautious about Patti’s buffalo alarm call. Sherry and Figan joined Patti after the buffalo hadn’t been heard for 15 minutes. Figan, Patti, and Sherry traveled through Lower Kasakela and eventually nested close to the beach near the korongo north of Kasakela. At one point during travel they all passed up a small snake that was only a meter from the trail. Apparently none of them saw the snake.

ASR Details. At 0724 a big fight erupted between Patti and Fifi during feeding on kilukia. Fifi seemed to be the initiator and the aggressor, however Patti held her own, screaming and waah’ing at Fifi during this fight (contact II). Sherry bobbed twice to Figan later in the day during travel.
Nesting Details. Figan, Sherry, and Patti traveled to the korongo north of Kasakela near the beach. At 1820, after feeding on msiloti, Figan, Sherry, and Patti traveled 30 m uphill. Sherry went into a tall tree and there were grunts by Figan. Figan went into a lower tree and began refurbishing an old nest. Patti pant-hooted. Sherry nested 10 m from Figan, and Patti nested downhill a little later.
