David’s Report. Text here

Atlas (age 7 ) eats “bamboo” (local name: matete).

Figan un-nested near Camp and ate ngazi before arriving to get some bananas right after Gigi. Satan, Patti, Athena, Atlas, and Sparrow in Camp after he finished. Faben came into Camp with a piece of the bushbuck skin from the predation yesterday (see Day 47 by Busse). Sparrow and Satan seemed interested in this and Sparrow began hand-to-mouth begging somewhat frantically. Faben got fed up and charged, ending up chasing a screaming full-open-grin Satan. Figan just sat with hair-out. In the scuffle, Sparrow got the skin and fled from Camp. Gigi left Camp and Faben and Figan caught up with her and they moved across the stream to briefly feed on ngazi.

They then left for KK1 and a little food and sleep for 50 minutes before slowly working their way to KK3. There they heard pant-hoots and waah’s and screams from below, and they charged and displayed. They waited for Gigi and when they got to KK4, Gigi left and went south up the hill to Sleeping Valley with her two faithful boyfriends following. Gigi full (mated on 15th, but Figan and Faben did not mate her today though they waited for her often). They slowly moved to the other side of the Sleeping Buffalo mountain and briefly disturbed a bee’s nest without getting hurt. They made their way silently yet not cautiously west to muguiza trees in SK1 end SK2. They nested west of SK1.

ASSR Details. None, except the Faben charge and brief chase of screaming, full-open- grin Satan, who avoided. Figan sat hair-out. This was prompted by Sparrow’s persistent hand-to-mouth begging for skin of bushbuck.

Nesting Details. After feeding on muguiza for an hour, Figan fast-grunted at 1733. They soon descended and ate vines. Gigi nested in a new nest at 1742 and Faben followed quickly in an old nest at 1747. Figan ate vines until 1754 and nested at 1756 in a new nest.
