Day 16: Figan Re-located

David’s Report. Figan was lost on Day 15 by Busse at the Kakombe waterfall. Busse found and followed Gigi and Faben northwards, but after 3 hours quit as Figan had not rejoined them. Evered was nested that night and Riss followed until 1200 the following day, but Evered was with Gilka and heading up KK3 when the follow was interrupted as there was little hope of finding Figan. Later, we were informed that Figan had passed by the mumanda tree near Jane’s house and by the Mess. We found him with Faben, Gigi, Goblin, and Patti at the muguiza tree near the stream.
Yassini Selemani. 
A quiet afternoon with a long two hour grooming session in Camp with Hugo, Mike, Gigi, Patti, Fifi, Athena, Atlas, Satan, and of course Goblin present. Gigi had choomingi that covered her bottom, so we got several incidents of tool using by Freud as he mounted and thrusted and then had to use leaves to get the choo off his groin area. Figan branch-waved with hair-out at Gigi who presented but decided not to take advantage of the dirty bottom.

The group left without Mike to the north stopping on route to feed on vines at Plumb Tree Thicket. They continued north to mnazi in AK1 and then hit Lower Kasakela’s lush kitota patches. Figan waited 20 min for Faben and Gigi to finish and led the big group, which had lost Satan but gained Jomeo and Sherry, to the fishing beaches near Linda to feed on fruit there. They nested up the stream in Linda without Gigi and Jomeo. Nothing exciting as the well integrated group moved north. Nice to have Hugo with the group as he is rarely seen with them now.

ASSR Details. A few displays of little importance. Gigi is swollen and was mated by Figan only once in the 6 observed hours. He is not possessive of her today. Satan pant-grunted and approached Figan twice, once when Figan hair-out, hunched, and he extended his arm to Satan who reached out with full-closed- whimper and pant-grunted and touched it. Figan immediately groomed him for a few seconds and walked off.
Nesting Details. Feeds near beach: ends 1833: travel slowly on path 500 m up the stream. Others climb tree and start feeding. Figan sits on ground for 10 minutes looking up; gives grunt and he charges into tree and makes nest first. Faben soon follows, and we leave Athena, Fifi, Sherry, Patti, and Goblin nested. Faben nested in palm tree high.
