Curt’s Report. Figan un-nested at 0641 and fed on mumanda with Hugo, Faben, Satan, Sherry, Jomeo, Goblin, Mustard, Nope, Miff, Moeza, Fifi, and Patti for 20 minutes before following Hugo down to the beach where they fed on ngazi. Hamburg (baboon) joined Figan and Hugo briefly in the ngazi tree. Figan then followed Hugo along the beach past the Mess to the muguiza tree where they fed for ½ hour. During travel Figan closely inspected the box where Cauliflower’s body (baboon) had recently been placed. Figan also did a well-timed display along the walkway behind Jane’s house.
Figan and Hugo fed on ngazi then Figan left Hugo and traveled to Camp where he met Satan, Sherry, and Jomeo. Figan did a long arrival display; Sherry bobbed, pant- grunted and avoided before pant-hooting. Figan groomed mostly with Jomeo; he was groomed briefly by Sherry and Jomeo. Between grooming bouts Figan displayed and dragged Molly Brecht to the ground. Moments later Satan started to display, then he avoided as Figan displayed behind him. There were many waah’s by Sherry and Jomeo. Figan displayed three more times (once with Jomeo) before leaving Camp alone to the north.

Figan was alone for the rest of the day except for a brief encounter with Pallas in Lower Kasakela. From 1021 until 1732 when he nested in AK1, Figan fed alone continuously on ngazi, msongati, kitota, and mumanda on Peak Ridge and in Lower Kasakela.
ASR Details. Definitely the major event of the day came in Camp as Figan at the banana trench put hair-out, pant-hooted then did a bipedal swagger, charge, drum-on-box, then charged again and dragged an unsuspecting Molly Brecht to the ground. There were waah’s and pant- hoots by Satan, Sherry and Jomeo …
Nesting Details. Figan had been feeding alone on kitota in Lower Kasakela, when he rapid-grunted at 1710. He then went to a nearby mnazi tree to feed briefly. Figan then traveled 100 m to AK1, passing Pallas during travel. Just before AK1 we passed under a bee’s nest and I received a multitude of stings across my lower back. Figan, perhaps aware of my distress, nested a few seconds later over AK1 at 1732. My dash back to Camp for aid was slowed as I had to wait for and follow a cobra who pulled out in front of me and led travel down the stream.
