Day 9: More Feeding in the Upper Valleys

David’s Report. Figan rose early and traveled to the ngazi tree in which he fed on the fifth twice. He then entered Camp and spent two hours with Mike, Humphrey, Goblin, Passion, Patti, and Gigi. He groomed mainly with Mike and Humphrey. Gigi (1/2 and coming up) was inspected by Patti, Passion, Humphrey, Mike, and Figan all at the same time. They left together and the group broke up quickly after muguiza and mshai eating after KK8 and near The Peak.
Jomeo in the mshai fields. 
Figan was alone as he ate kifumbe and mshai in Upper Kasakela. He then met up with Jomeo and the Nope family and they ate kifumbe until 1500. Jomeo and Figan continued kifumbe until 1553 as Nope had left at 1500. They then msongati-fed down the Linda- Kasakela ridge and entered AK7 and made for the stream. Figan lost Jomeo for awhile (he was noticeably looking for him and pant-hooted with no Jomeo response) and ate kitota briefly before traveling west to find Jomeo, Sherry, Patti, and Melissa in a mnazi tree eating leaves. An arrival display preceded a 1/2 hour feeding when he nested with Melissa at 1815. The others continued to feed and their nesting time was uncertain.

ASSR Details. Little ASSR when he meets Humphrey and Mike in Camp early morning. A few displays in Camp. As he leaves Camp with Mike, Humphrey, and others, and he displays to the east and into trees. Gigi was inspected (1/2 to 3/4, coming up) by Patti, Passion, Humphrey, Mike, and Figan all at once when she came into Camp. Later in the afternoon he made arrival displays when meeting Jomeo and Nope; and then later when meeting Melissa, Jomeo, Sherry, and Patti.
Nesting Details. He nested early at 1815 after feeding on mnazi leaves with Jomeo, Melissa, Sherry, and Patti. Melissa had nested in a nest 20 m from him at 1813. He made a nest about 30 m from his last food in an old nest about 5 m off the ground. Jomeo ended up sleeping within 15 m from him.
